School is out and you finally have time to relax. What are you going to do with all your free time? Cabin fever can set in quickly, making the start of school look like a sweet reprieve for everyone around you. This winter, don't despair, here’s a list of fun-filled activities to help you beat winter break boredom.
Activity #1: Epic Rollertainment
Located in Murrieta, CA, Epic Rollertainment is a vibrant, beach-themed, spot for roller skating and family fun. Epic features skate rentals, arcade games, picnic tables, and private rooms for parties. Activity #2: Festival of Lights
The Festival of Lights has an amazing holiday display and is located at the Mission Inn in Riverside, CA. It welcomes guests to experience thousands of lights and decorations, live entertainment, food vendors, and amusement park rides. There are even visits with Santa, horse-drawn carriage rides, and a market where art can be purchased. While it's free to get in, some rides, like the carousel, have a small fee.
Activity #3: Riverside Art Museum
Like the Festival of Lights, the Riverside Art Museum is also located at the Mission Inn. It has many different kinds of art on display, including mixed media and watercolors. In addition, there are classes available for both adults and children. While these classes will have varying prices, general admission to the museum is $5, although students with an ID and seniors pay $3, and members, military, their families, and children under 12 are free.
Activity #4: Holiday Traditions at Tom's Farms
Tom’s Farm’s is a family-friendly park with restaurants, a farmer's market, and amusement rides. Located in Corona, CA, Tom’s Farms hosts an annual holiday festival. Filled with nighttime train rides, Christmas lights, pony rides, a petting zoo, and other attractions, Tom’s Farm’s is a perfect activity for families. Enjoy nighttime train rides and visits with Santa in December. Prices vary depending on the attraction so visit their website to find exact prices.
Activity #5: Temecula on Ice
Temecula on Ice is a state-of-the-art ice rink located in Old Town Temecula, CA. It's the perfect place to brush up on your ice skating skills. And when your done one, it's also the perfect place to shop for antiques and clothing, visit museums, or enjoy one of the city's many restaurants and bars. Temecula on Ice is open daily between December 15 and January 8. For New Year's Eve the fee is $20 while all other days the fee for unlimited skating without reentry is $10. In addition, the fee to rent skates is $6 and $8 to rent a Bobby skating aid.
Activity #6: Rose Haven Heritage Garden
Rose Haven Heritage Garden, located in Temecula, CA, is a member of the American Public Gardens organization and also a certified wildlife sanctuary. It is recognized by the National Wildlife Federation and is the perfect spot for beautiful photography. This garden has an outdoor showcase of roses and offers walking paths and picnic tables. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
Activity #7: Castle Park
Catle Park was voted Riverside's Best Amusement park. It hosts a variety of unique rides and attractions, a miniature golf course, and a variety of arcade games. There are different ticket types but the prices range from $7 to $49.99. The hours also vary so the best way to find the times is to visit the website and check it out. In addition, there is a $10 fee for a parking pass.
Activity #8: Mulligan Family Fun Center
Muligan Family Fun Center is an amusement park. Located in Murrieta, CA, it features go-karts, batting cages, an arcade, and miniature golf. There's even a variety of small rides for young children. Laser tag, water slides, and a rock wall make this park perfect for those looking for a fun and active adventure.
Activity #9: Riverside Metropolitan Museum
The Riverside Metropolitan Museum is located in Riverside, CA and teaches visitors about anthropology, histroy, and natural science. Admission to the museum is free but they do accept donations and the suggested amount is $5 per person. The hours vary so the best thing to do is check the website.
Activity #10: March Field Air Museum
This aviation museum is located in Riverside, CA. It has many different exhibits and aircraft. In addition, it has a gift shop where items can be purchased. Parking is free and admission is $10 for ages 12 and over, $5 for ages 5-11, and free for children under 5, members of the museum, and military personnel with a valid military ID.
Activity #11: Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center (JMDC)
This is located at 7621 Granite Hill Dr, Riverside, CA 92509 and has 9 acres of botanical gardens, as well as over 10 different dinosaur sculptures. In addition, there are also paid adventures and other activities and camps. The admission for this is free and is open 6 days a week.
These are just a few of the activities that are available around this area but these are sure to be fun for everyone involved! Not only are they a great source of exercise, but they are also activities that can be enjoyed!
